Individual therapy is a process where a person can work one-on-one with a trained therapist. The environment is made safe, caring, and confidential so as to explore or work through:
- Beliefs or behaviors.
- Challenging or influential memories.
- Aspects of their lives that they would like to change.
- Better understand themselves and others.
- Set personal goals and desired change.
Any person experiencing difficulties can benefit from having someone to talk to about these difficulties. The goal of this therapy is to allow the person to have a space where they can be completely themselves, where they have the chance to work through their difficulties in a space of confidentiality and non-judgement. The counselling can be for any person, any age, struggling with any kind of difficulty or trauma. Many of the examples that are presented for adolescents can apply to adults as well.
